Ambient air is compressed and purified to remove oil, water, and dust, then fed into a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) system consisting of two adsorption towers filled with carbon molecular sieve. Compressed air flows upward through the adsorption towers, where oxygen molecules are adsorbed on the surface of the carbon molecular sieve, while nitrogen flows out from the top of the towers into a crude nitrogen buffer tank.
